Kyler's Eagle Scout Court of Honor

Kyler's Court of Honor took place on December 23, 2012.  Kyler has so many great leaders and examples to follow - and if I haven't mentioned - great motivators!

His dad being his number one "go to" scouting guy.  Kyler and Layne bounced ideas for a project back and forth until Kyler found something that was exciting for him.

Kyler refers to Bro. Riley as one of the hardest working people he has ever seen!

And he'll always remember the cool things he did in cubs because of Sis. Koschene (his cub master) and Sis. Adams (one of his den leaders).

And you can't forget the influence of an awesome uncle!

"The pinning"

 "The Oath"

Mr. Hussey who works with Senator Chambliss presented Kyler with an award and a flag, that was flown at the capitol on December 7th in honor of Kyler's Great Grandpa Mitchell who was at Pearl Harbor.  Mr. Hussey was very generous with his time and very kind to Kyler.

So I wasn't so good with this part.  Anyway...

Grandpa Mitchell made a cool eagle plaque for Kyler.  He is the number one guy for keeping all the Mitchell "boys" in check.

Kyler took time to say a few words and give thanks...

and he gave his mentoring pin to Bro. Nelson.

Congratulations, Kyler!

And Congratulations to Collin.  He received his Eagle earlier in the year.  He did a cool project that renovated a cemetery that had been neglected and vandalized.

So... it was really neat to see Kyler sitting in the Eagle's Nest among so many great people that included his cousin, three uncles, and his dad!

Ok-REWIND again...

So, a little while ago Kyler completed his Eagle project and received the rank of Eagle Scout.  In September many people -friends and family - came together to support and help Kyler reach this goal.  And we thank them for their sacrifices, for their support and donations, and for their service!

His Project...improving the middle school's baseball area.

Before.

A little prep work before the big day.

 The Big Day!

Kyler and Kirk discussing the "game plan."
Dirt has to be moved.  Two picnic tables have to be built.  The dugouts need dirt, timbers and mulch - oh and ant spray!  Concrete has to poured and finished.  Water and doughnuts should be dispersed! :)

Everyone worked hard... and even had some fun!

Look at that cute lil' miss hitchin' a ride!

Is that Paul causing trouble again?!?

I love this picture!

...and this one!
...oh, and this one!  :)

FRIENDS!

How many scouts will a folding chair hold?

I think the kids thought this was the "coolest" part of the day!

This was the end of the day!  Dirt moved.  Picnic tables built (and in working order).  Dugouts finished - inside and out.  Concrete poured, smoothed, finished - and drying.  Water and doughnuts gone!  :)

After (about a week later).

Since Kyler's project was finished, he has been thanked by the school's softball team (the girls and coaches found him at school, circled him and thanked him - I would imagine his face was pretty red), the Columbia County Board of Education and Grovetown City Hall.

Kyler and the Superintendent.

Kyler and his Scoutmaster.

Kyler with a fellow eagle scout, the mayor, and the city council.

Kyler is now into another school season of baseball and still excited and very thankful to all who made his project complete!  The baseball field has continued to see improvements - which is really awesome!  The school recently had another concrete pad poured for batting cages - and cubbies and bat racks added to the dugouts.  Gooo Grovetown!  :)
