Update...

Just a quick update on Kyler. He went back to the doctor on Monday, worse. So, they gave him a shot of antibiotics and a new "triple threat" antibiotic to take for ten days. His arm is almost back to normal. Now he just has to deal with the side effects of the antibiotic. He's a trooper though! Yesterday, he came home from school with an upset stomach and migraine, took a 40 minute nap, played his first baseball game of the season, and received the game ball. He just keeps going!

Did you say 40?!?

Whoa! How many candles are there?!?
40...

Did you say 40?

No worries! As always, it only took one breath. We did have to open the door because of all that smoke! :)

We had a birthday dinner for Layne Sunday evening. It almost stayed a surprise -until Kyler's arm got all blown up - but it was all good! It was really so much fun with everyone here!

Thanks everyone for coming and spoiling the birthday boy! :)

Today Layne took the day off of work (because everyone should be able to have a day off on their birthday) and we got to spend all day together. It was awesome!

Happy 40th Birthday, Layne! We Love you! (Mostly because you make us laugh - and because you're secure in your old age!)

The Poison Ivy Saga Continues...

You know that Collin and Kyler had poison ivy head to toe, and while still trying to be good sports about it all...

they have had some rough days.

It has now been just over two weeks since exposure. They look better (Kyler was able to wear his glasses again about 4 days into it). However, they still itch a bit, still need an oatmeal bath now and again, and now Kyler has cellulitis. An infection of the tissues - in his case - brought on by the severe reaction to the poison ivy. Notice that Kyler's left arm is much bigger than the right arm - and it is warm - hot to the touch.

Layne took him to the ER yesterday and he has been put on antibiotics with a severe warning that if it worsens in any way he needs to be brought back in. Apparently, if the infection connects around the arm it can cut off blood flow - not good. And if not treated, could cause a bone infection - really not good. So the doctor drew lines on his arm yesterday, told him to stay out of the sun and take it easy, and asked that he be seen again today.

As a mom, I guess there is always something to worry about or lose sleep over, and yet Kyler plugs along ready for the next adventure! And you would never know anything was wrong with him until you caught a glimpse of his one big "Popeye arm."

A beekeeper, indeed!

Kyler, after being introduced to 4-H in the fall at school, decided that he wanted to join the bee club and learn how to be a beekeeper. So he saved his money, bought a suit and equipment, built a hive, and bought bees. The bees were delivered April 9th in a cardboard box. And here is what happened...

He's pretty excited! - This video cracks me up because he looks like a little alien man in his "too big of a suit" with the smoke billowing around him! :)

Welcome Spring!

Helllllooooo Poison Ivy...

This morning.

This afternoon (right after taking their first dose of Prednisone).

They sure had a good time in the woods, but not so much now. So, so sad!

An Easter Conversation

Kavan comes in to wake us up Easter morning and says to Layne while jumping up and down on him, "It's Easter daddy, wake up wakey head!"

Of course Layne makes them wait on the stairs for forrrrreeeeeeverrrr before having them come downstairs to hunt for their baskets.

So Karlee and Kavan had a little conversation...

Karlee: Do you think the Easter bunny is real?
Kavan: (after thinking for a little bit) Maybe he's just dressed up.
Karlee: Dang Blabbit!

And the hunt begins...

Karlee is the first to find her basket...

"Uhhh, we can't find our baskets."

Is it in here?

How bout here?

Could it be under here? (Really?)

OHHHH, here it is!!!!!

Another little conversation between Karlee and Kavan while eating candy from their baskets after a successful hunt...

Karlee: The Easter bunny was pretty tricky.
Kavan: You know Easter is about Jesus anyway, not the Easter bunny.

A moment that I go... ahh, he does listen! :)

I am so thankful for the love of our Savior Jesus Christ and His Atoning Sacrifice. What a blessing it is in my life! May we rejoice in His resurrection and His example not only today, but everyday.

HAPPY EASTER!

Bummer!

It is right before Easter and I am sick! I had to come home from work yesterday because I had a fever, chills, aches, nausea, burning throat... not pretty! But Layne bought me juice, medicine, chocolate, and made me soup last night and that was so nice. I think in the almost 16 years that I have been a hygienist I have only called in sick once. It is so sad because there is always much to be done. 2 maybe 3 years ago I had the flu over Easter week. Maybe this time it will be quick. I hope so because I can't sleep so good and there are all kinds of cute babies being born around here who need visiting - especially my cute little niece, Eliza!

She is so pretty! :)
